Ready to rock

There is nothing quite like a bit of rock on a Sunday night. The American band, Rival Sons, took to the stage at the HMV Picture House last night and although I wasn't too familiar with their songs, I thought they were brilliant. They exuded talent and charisma - and the crowd were lapping it up.

Formed in 2008, the Long Beach musicians have been garnering acclaim for a while now from both music critics and fellow musicians. Their many credentials include supporting high-profile acts AC/DC, Judas Priest and Alice Cooper and winning the 'Breakthrough Act of the Year' at the 2012 Classic Rock Awards. A blend of classic rock and blues with a few solid riffs thrown in, Rival Sons have clearly taken inspiration from the past, with a sound reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and a singer who resembles Jim Morrison (from a distance anyway).

The self-proclaimed rock and roll band are currently in the middle of a European tour, so check them out if you get the chance. What a great way to end the weekend.
